EFF WESTERN CAPE SENDS ITS DEEP CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF FIGHTER, COUNCILLOR AND PCT MEMBER DERRICK HENDRICKSE
EFF Western Cape would like to express its deepest condolences to the Hendrickse family for the passing of Fighter, Councillor and PCT member Derrick Hendickse who passed away on Monday, 4th January 2021. His funeral will take place on Wednesday 13 January in Stellenbosch.
As a party we have lost a true leader of society and hard worker who always put the interest of the poorest of the poor at heart. In Stellenbosch where he was deployed as a Councillor, he served the party with fearlessness, dignity and upheld the highest standards of the values of the party. He confronted white supremacy to the end in one of the most racist areas in the Western Cape, Stellenbosch. In the time that he walked among us, he famously called Stellenbosch, ‘Skelembosch’ and today as we reflect on his life, we also remember his favourite saying “In Skelembosch you must be white to be right”. A part of us has died with his passing.
Fighter Hendrickse was a leader with foresight, deep sense of justice for the oppressed and had a lot to offer to our continuous struggle against injustice. He may be gone for now but his legacy will linger on into the ages.
