Right now: Eviction meeting in progress at Mbekweni
The residents evicted went to take possession of the land on 14 September 2016. On the specific piece of land the Drakenstein Municipality erected temporary structures for people who was evicted from farms they worked on and are receiving full Municipal Services.
The Municipality then instituted an urgent application to the High Court to get the new people on the land evicted.
They have no legal representation as Legal Aid refused to represent them because of timeframe.
Notwithstanding the EFF succeeded in securing another postponement until 5 December. We will submit affidavits to the High Court before 25 November.
