EFF INTERVENES IN SUBJECTIVE ALLOCATION OF HOUSING IN STELLENBOSCH MUNICIPALITY
The Chairperson of EFF in the Western Cape, Bernard Joseph, visited the new BNG ( RDP) housing project in Jamestown, Stellenbosch.
It was brought under his attention that the Stellenbosch Municipality is violating their own housing policy as well as those of Provincial and National Government.
The Municipality is hiding behind an Agreement reached between them and Blaawklippen which is depriving older people and people with disabilities in Jamestown from being accommodated in the new houses.
It was also mentioned that young people are getting preferential treatment in the allocation process and that individuals earning more than R3500 per month are accommodated which is against the housing policies within governmental spheres.
The Chairperson of EFF will address the community of Jamestown on 7 December 2016 @ 14:00 at the housing project after which a picketing will take place.
The EFF is adamant that the DA controlled Municipality is deliberately stoking Black on Black violence through their actions and call on them to be transparent.
