Message of encouragment to all EFF members
Election Day 2016 is finally upon us. After all the hype, news, campaigns, late-night phone calls, and countless late nights and lack of sleep the day has come when we can put all our talk into action.
“The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by man for breaking down injustice and destroying the wicked and corrupt.” ‘It is high time for us to put an end to their sitting in parliament and on councils which they have dishonored by their contempt of all virtue, and defiled by their practice of every vice… a pack of mercenary wretches…”
Every supporter, campaigner, candidate, party agent, official and member of the EFF must know that their vote matters, that contribution to the struggle for economic freedom counts, and that in the voting booth, their vote has a much weight as that of any CEO, any Member of Parliament or any President.
Today we make history, today we change history, and today we take charge of our destiny. Today is the beginning of our tomorrow as EFF. A house is built of bricks but a home is made with love, the love of justice is the cornerstone of the home that we call EFF. It is what unites us and gives us common purpose and the energy to carry the torch of justice for all our people, past, present and future. Democracy is the only system that persists in asking the powers that be whether they are the powers that ought to be. We today are asking those powers whether they ought to be.
Wherever you are, in whatever capacity you serve, as an agent, candidate, writer, driver, campaigner, planner, logistics and a humble yet proud EFF voter, you matter, your contribution on this day is truly valued and appreciated. I feel humbled by the immense amount of work that went into our preparation for today. In every voting station from Cape Town to Matzikama, Beaufort West to Eden, know that you are writing history, the new history.
Today’s vote a game changer, the curtain raiser for 2019, the beginning of the end of all corrupt parties that abuses the rights of our people and appropriate the wealth for themselves. Be vigilant, be strong. We will overcome.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for every prayer, task, deed and sacrifice you have made and are still making to bring true freedom to our people and speak truth to power.
